“I love to see a woman go out and grab the world by the lapels!”
Today is International Women's Day! I applaud all of the powerful women out there doing their best day in and day out. This past weekend I went to a Women's History Month event focused on love and the powerful strength of women. Listening to each panelist bravely share their own love stories, I marveled at how none of them "wore" their stories. I applauded each of them for sharing how they overcame infidelity, abuse, among other things, but they didn't let any of these obstacles steal their love or joy.
Everyday we talk to women, work with women, conduct business with women and might not ever know their story -- what's truly going on in their lives. Even someone in our inner circle could be hurting and we are unaware because she always puts on a smile or brave face. It's what women do. We take care of business, home, family, practically everything else before we take care of our own needs.
I know the organizers of today's #DayWithoutWomen have given us five ways to support this effort, but I think we can all start by loving up on the women we know or even a stranger! Take a moment today to send some love to the women in your life. Let them know they are not in this alone. Let them know what you admire about them. Just take the moment today to pour into another women.
To all my badass women out there...
You are loved. You are worthy. You are special. You are more than the assumptions people make of you. You are confident. You are beautiful. You are strong. You are radiant.
Simply put, you are fucking dope!
